Sr. Workforce Effectiveness Data Analyst – Remote – United States

At Healthfirst Operations, the Senior Strategic Data Analyst plays a vital role in fostering a culture grounded in data-driven decision-making. This position demands a deep knowledge of the health insurance sector and the skill to harness technology and analytics to boost efficiency both within the department and across the wider organization. As a key team member, you will apply advanced data techniques to generate insights that guide essential business decisions and promote successful outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage advanced analytics tools to deliver actionable insights to department leadership.

  • Build and maintain automated analytics reports and dashboards that track key departmental health and performance indicators.

  • Develop preventive and detective controls to ensure business processes are timely, accurate, and complete.

  • Design, enhance, and test data models and dashboards, carefully managing any downstream impacts from changes to algorithms or analyses.

  • Create and implement sophisticated statistical models and predictive algorithms using large datasets.

  • Analyze complex data sets to provide recommendations that support strategic decision-making.

  • Develop scalable ETL workflows that reliably transfer data from source systems to analytics environments while ensuring data accuracy.

  • Conduct thorough statistical evaluations to understand model constraints and improve performance.

  • Define and refine performance metrics that measure departmental effectiveness.

  • Critically review business operations, pinpointing areas for improvement and backing decisions with solid data evidence.

  • Act as a trusted consultant for internal teams by establishing sound methodologies and communicating findings clearly and confidently.

  • Analyze premium revenue, remittance statuses, and accounts receivable data while supporting related reporting functions.

  • Document and assess departmental processes to enhance operational efficiency and precision.

  • Proactively identify and resolve high-impact, strategic issues by detecting patterns and proposing data-driven solutions.

  • Present insights derived from large-scale data analyses effectively to diverse stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with IT and business partners to develop new algorithms, identify emerging trends, and create innovative solutions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience.

  • Skilled in scripting and programming languages.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Access, Excel, and Word.

  • Strong expertise in SQL and other query tools for data retrieval and analysis.

  • Experience working with platforms such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Amazon Redshift.

  • Solid understanding of applied statistics, including probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis.

  • Proven ability to run queries and extract data from large-scale data warehouses.

  • Familiarity with advanced audit methodologies and techniques.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Informatics, or a related discipline.

  • Experience with Python and R for statistical programming and analysis.

  • Knowledge of AWS analytics tools such as Redshift, Glue, and SageMaker.

  • Strong skills in data visualization tools, particularly Tableau.

  • Familiarity with JavaScript and D3.js for interactive data visualization.

  • Experience with big data frameworks and tools such as Hadoop, MapReduce, or AWS Kinesis.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to make independent, critical decisions.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines consistently.

  • Clear and compelling communication skills tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Understanding of modern machine learning algorithms including clustering, classification, and regression methods.

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry operations, products, and strategic considerations.


Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $81,100 – $117,470

  • Other Approved Locations: $71,600 – $106,505

Final salary will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, education, certifications, and other considerations Healthfirst deems appropriate.
