Human Resources Assistant (Remote)

Mercor is seeking a highly organized and detail-focused Human Resources Assistant to support the development of cutting-edge large language models (LLMs). In this contract role, you’ll use your real-world experience in HR administration—ranging from onboarding and documentation to benefits and hiring logistics—to help ensure AI systems understand and reflect accurate, industry-relevant HR practices.

Your insights will directly influence how artificial intelligence interprets and responds to key HR functions in corporate, nonprofit, and public-sector settings.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and refine HR-related prompts to train and assess AI language models

• Apply your HR knowledge to ensure accuracy and realism in AI-generated content

• Review and compare AI outputs, selecting the most appropriate and effective responses

• Participate in writing assessments and asynchronous projects that enhance model performance

Ideal Candidate

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Bring 3+ years of experience in general HR roles (excluding payroll or timekeeping functions)

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field

• Live in the U.S., U.K., or Canada

• Have hands-on experience with:

  • Personnel file management

  • Onboarding paperwork and processes

  • Benefits enrollment assistance

  • Interview scheduling and coordination

  • Employment verification handling

  • Responding to HR support requests

• Possess excellent written communication and grammar skills

• Demonstrate a high level of precision, organization, and attention to detail

Position Details

• Hours: 10–20 hours per week to start, with the option to increase to 40 hours

• Schedule: 100% remote and fully flexible (asynchronous work environment)

• Contract Length: Minimum commitment of 1–2 months, with possible extension

• Start Date: Mid-to-late July; applications reviewed as they are received

Interview Process

Applicants will participate in a brief AI-focused assessment, including:

• Creating a sample training prompt based on an HR scenario

• Reviewing and analyzing AI-generated responses

• Selecting and justifying the most accurate and appropriate output

Candidates will be evaluated on their HR knowledge, writing clarity, and evaluative reasoning.
