AI Engineer – Stride, Inc. – Remote

Stride, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven AI Engineer to lead the development and implementation of machine learning-powered solutions across large-scale datasets. In this role, you will be at the forefront of creating end-to-end AI products that directly impact student success by supporting retention and academic achievement. This position requires a technical expert with a passion for applying ML to real-world challenges, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

As an AI Engineer, you’ll design, evaluate, and operationalize ML models while adhering to Stride’s best practices. You’ll also provide strategic insight to guide AI integration across product lifecycles and ensure alignment with organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply deep technical knowledge in machine learning, API integration, pipeline architecture, and data visualization to uncover actionable insights.

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to uncover opportunities and craft AI-driven solutions that support strategic decision-making.

  • Coordinate with data engineers, IT leads, and data governance professionals to ensure ML pipelines are efficient, secure, scalable, and use reliable data.

  • Translate business challenges into ML-driven solutions that produce clear, measurable impacts.

  • Implement robust practices to ensure all AI models are trackable, reproducible, measurable, and continuously monitored for performance degradation or drift.

  • Oversee AI model deployment from initial planning and data sourcing through product integration and lifecycle management.

  • Serve as a thought leader and domain expert, supporting strategy teams in their efforts to enhance academic outcomes using AI technologies.

  • Promote adoption and practical use of AI across education and operations teams by delivering tools that generate value and improve user experience.

  • Identify and advocate for new AI opportunities across business areas to further Stride’s mission and long-term vision.

  • Bring enthusiasm and energy to work that inspires team members and reinforces a shared commitment to advancing educational equity through innovation.


Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or another quantitative discipline.

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in AI/ML engineering or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn, with a solid understanding of data science and statistics.

  • Practical experience working in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and with DevOps tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

  • Expertise in building and managing ML pipelines using best practices, including containerization, CI/CD workflows, and version control.

  • Strong validation and model testing skills to ensure accuracy and trustworthiness of AI outputs.

  • Detail-oriented with a rigorous approach to problem-solving and analytics.

  • Customer-focused mindset and the ability to deliver on tight deadlines across multiple projects.

  • High-level communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Strong ethics and respect for data privacy and confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and data reporting platforms.

  • Comfortable working in digital environments and understanding complex business models.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.

  • Experience with MLOps tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, or advanced ML disciplines including deep learning, natural language processing, or recommender systems.


Position Details:

  • Job Type: Full-time, Regular

  • Work Location: Remote (home-based position)

  • Salary Range: $66,379.50 – $120,000.00 (final compensation depends on experience, education, and location)

  • Bonus Eligibility: Yes
