Data Analyst at Skyward – United States
We believe in people. In progress. In the power of technology to elevate lives and reshape our future for the better. At Skyward, our mission is driven by purpose — to serve others with compassion, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Our culture is built on connection — to each other, to our work, and to our communities. We’re a diverse group of professionals who complement one another, not compete. Beneath our calm, collaborative surface flows a steady current of energy and intent, always moving us forward in support of our civic tech mission.
We don’t compromise on our core values — they define us:
Our Core Values
-
Integrity
We lead with intention, empathy, and consistency. What we say is what we do. Authenticity is our strength — and let’s be honest, we’re terrible actors. -
Compassion
Borrowing from Theodore Roosevelt: “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.” We care. About our clients, our teammates, and the impact of our work — and it shows in everything we do. -
Curiosity
We never stop learning. Mistakes aren’t setbacks; they’re springboards. We fail forward and turn questions into insights. -
Originality
For us, work isn’t something that interrupts life — it’s a part of it. We blur the boundaries, allowing life and work to support each other. -
Authenticity
When you combine integrity, compassion, curiosity, and originality — you get something real. We’re a team that values trust, transparency, and staying true to who we are, while lifting each other up every step of the way.
Join Us as a Data Analyst
Are you naturally inquisitive, always digging into data to find what others miss? Do you love turning messy data into meaningful stories? If so, this could be the role for you. We’re looking for a detail-oriented data enthusiast who’s excited about using their skills to make a real-world difference — helping researchers, analysts, and policymakers shape the future of healthcare.
What You’ll Do
-
Contribute to a high-impact project supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by helping researchers access and analyze data to improve care for chronically ill populations.
-
Work with incoming datasets — cleaning, validating, and documenting them to ensure consistency and usability within the Medicare and Medicaid data ecosystem.
-
Act as a data expert and guide for stakeholders, offering insights, support, and clear communication to both technical and policy-focused audiences.
-
Write or update technical guidelines, documentation, and codebooks to ensure data is correctly interpreted and utilized.
-
Develop and maintain efficient, production-grade code in Python, R, or SAS to clean, transform, and analyze large-scale healthcare datasets.
-
Review specifications and data outputs to ensure they align with project goals, business rules, and regulatory standards.
-
Collaborate closely with team members and our helpdesk to manage data output reviews and respond to user inquiries.
Who You Are
-
You have a Bachelor’s degree in data science, public health, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
-
You bring 2+ years of professional experience, ideally with exposure to government or healthcare data.
-
You’re confident with SQL and experienced in working with large, complex datasets.
-
You’ve worked with tools like SAS, R, Python, or Stata, especially for data cleaning, analysis, and transformation.
-
You have a sharp eye for detail — spotting inconsistencies, patterns, or data issues before anyone else does.
-
You’re a great communicator and collaborator, able to bridge gaps between tech teams and policy stakeholders.
Extra Credit If You:
-
Have direct experience working with CMS data or supporting CMS projects.
-
Are excited about the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, data-driven research that informs national healthcare decisions.
Even if you don’t check every single box, we encourage you to apply. We value potential, passion, and people who are eager to grow.
