Position Overview: Data Analyst II

Fisher Phillips, a globally recognized employment and labor law firm, is currently hiring a Data Analyst II to join our dynamic team. This role plays a vital part in helping us deliver data-driven, efficient solutions in support of complex employment and labor law matters. The position is available remotely or in a hybrid model from either our Los Angeles or Irvine offices.

In this role, you’ll work under the supervision of attorneys, focusing on analytical projects that directly support client cases. Please note this is a non-legal position and requires tracking a minimum of 1,500 billable hours annually (October 1 to September 30).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Excel-based damage models to estimate potential liabilities under various scenarios.

  • Review and analyze time card data to detect issues like missed meal breaks, and provide scenario modeling to support legal claims.

  • Clean, organize, and convert raw client data into structured formats, ensuring data integrity throughout.

  • Examine payroll records to confirm the correct distribution of wages.

  • Design commission and bonus pay calculators to help determine amounts owed based on defined plans.

  • Prepare business financials, including profit and loss projections, to support legal case evaluations.

  • Track and manage deadlines to ensure projects are completed on time and with high accuracy.

  • Use statistical techniques to evaluate client data for trends and patterns.

  • Partner with attorneys, paralegals, and other team members on a variety of cases.

  • Perform in-depth statistical analysis (e.g., regressions, hypothesis testing) to uncover insights related to HR practices such as hiring or terminations.

  • Assess HR data for evidence of disparate impact in hiring or promotional decisions.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in data analysis (legal industry experience is a plus).

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with Python and Tableau is preferred.

  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Effective communicator with solid time management skills.

  • Experience tracking billable hours is highly desirable.

  • Professional, adaptable, and able to perform well under tight deadlines.

Compensation Range: $33.65 – $45.67 per hour
Exact compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and applicable legal considerations.
