Data Analyst – United States – Remote
The DASD-S&T Futures and Foundations Office is looking for a motivated and detail-focused Data Analyst to support daily operational needs. This office manages policies and activities related to defense laboratories and engineering centers, offering a unique role at the crossroads of defense policy, scientific research, and data analytics.
Note: While the role is remote, candidates must be based in the Washington, D.C. metro region as per client requirements.
Primary Responsibilities

Analyze data relating to laboratory personnel systems, STEM outreach initiatives, technology transfer efforts, infrastructure, and federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs).

Assess program effectiveness and identify gaps to support policy formulation.

Respond to specific data inquiries from clients and proactively determine additional data needs.

Identify and utilize appropriate data sources and systems to gather necessary information.

Process and refine data using tools such as big data platforms, Microsoft Excel, and Tableau to ensure precision and relevance.

Conduct quality assurance steps including cleaning, labeling, and categorizing data accurately.

Develop insightful visualizations to facilitate informed decision-making.

Reduce dependence on direct field communications by leveraging existing databases and data assets.

Recommend enhancements to data collection techniques to improve accuracy and operational efficiency.
Basic Requirements
-
Residency: Must be located within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution plus a minimum of five years’ experience in areas such as:

Data Engineering
-
Statistics or Data Analytics
-
Program Management
-
-
Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) data systems.
-
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
-
Current DoD Secret clearance is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience within the DoD Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDTE) community.

Proficiency in programming languages like SQL, Python, or R.
-
Familiarity with analytical and visualization platforms such as Qlik, Databricks, Tableau, or comparable tools.

Understanding of DoD financial and contracting processes.
-
Knowledge of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process.

Background in managing DoD FFRDC programs.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $78,700 – $165,300
Final pay is based on factors including geographic location, relevant experience, skillset, education, certifications, and specific government contract labor categories.
