Data Analyst – United States – Remote
The Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology (DASD-S&T) Futures and Foundations Office is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Analyst to support day-to-day operations. DASD-S&T oversees policy and operations for defense laboratories and engineering centers, providing a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of policy, science, and data analytics.
Note: While this is a remote position, candidates must reside in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area as required by the client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct data analyses on laboratory personnel systems, STEM outreach programs, technology transfer, infrastructure, and federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs).
- Evaluate program performance and deficiencies to inform policy decisions.
- Respond to client data requests or proactively identify data needs.
- Determine appropriate data systems for acquiring required information.
- Process data using big data platforms, Microsoft Excel, or Tableau to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Perform quality assurance procedures, including cleaning, labeling, and grouping data effectively.
- Develop visual data representations to provide actionable insights.
- Minimize reliance on field calls by utilizing existing data and databases.
- Suggest improvements for data collection methods to enhance efficiency and precision.
Basic Qualifications:
- Location Requirement: Must live in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least five (5) years of relevant experience in:
- Data Engineering
- Statistics or Data Analytics
- Program Management
- Knowledge: Familiarity with DoD data systems.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in DoD RDTE (Research, Development, Test & Evaluation) enterprise.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
- Proficiency with analytical platforms like Qlik, Databricks, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Experience with DoD financial and contracting systems.
- Understanding of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) system.
- Knowledge of DoD FFRDC program management.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $78,700 – $165,300
Final salary will depend on factors such as location, experience, skills, education, certifications, and Federal Government contract labor categories.
