Data Engineer II – Astrana Health – Remote
We’re on the lookout for a results-driven Data Engineer II to join our Data Integration team. Reporting directly to the Manager of Data Integration, this role is central to our mission of empowering care teams and improving health outcomes across the nation. You’ll work in collaboration with data scientists, engineers, analysts, and clinical experts to build data-driven solutions that support internal strategies and enhance client-facing products. With millions of patient lives under our care and a rapidly growing data ecosystem, this role plays a vital part in our innovation and data reliability efforts.

Key Responsibilities
-
Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-quality data pipelines and models using industry best practices

Develop a comprehensive understanding of healthcare workflows and stay informed on industry regulations and reporting standards

Conduct ongoing data profiling and validation to ensure high standards of quality, completeness, and consistency

Automate ELT workflows and construct dashboards that help visualize key metrics and trends

Proactively implement data monitoring and alerting systems to detect anomalies and ensure downstream system reliability
Required Skills & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Data Science, Public Health, Business, Statistics); a Master’s degree (MBA, MPH, etc.) is a plus

Proficient with relational databases and skilled in designing logical and physical data models
-
Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python or Spark)

Deep familiarity with modern software development life cycles including documentation, testing, code review, and version control (e.g., Git)

Solid grasp of data modeling techniques such as star schemas, snowflake structures, and dimensional modeling

Previous experience working with Databricks is preferred

Competency with BI and visualization platforms such as Tableau or Power BI is a bonus

Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical insights to non-technical stakeholders

Excel proficiency
You’re an Excellent Fit If You Have:
-
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics, or related fields

Experience using Git or similar tools for version control
-
Exposure to healthcare or managed care data (2+ years preferred)

Practical experience working with public cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for at least one year
Additional Information

This is a fully remote role open to applicants residing in the U.S.

The base salary range is $105,000 to $115,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
