Role Summary

As a Senior Associate Machine Learning Scientist with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP), you will develop innovative AI models to tackle complex challenges in areas like language understanding, speech analytics, time-series forecasting, recommendation engines, and reinforcement learning. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams—ranging from technology and business to legal and compliance—to turn prototypes into scalable solutions.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in collaborative environments, has a deep passion for machine learning, and is excited by emerging research and experimentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research and stay up to date with advancements in machine learning by engaging with academic literature and industry conferences.

  • Design and implement state-of-the-art ML models for real-world applications in NLP, speech analytics, and related domains.

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, engineers, and governance teams to bring AI models into production environments.

  • Contribute to firmwide AI initiatives by building scalable ML infrastructure and tools that can be reused across departments.

  • Actively share knowledge, mentor peers, and contribute to our internal ML community.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar quantitative field, OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in applied machine learning or AI research.

  • Hands-on experience with NLP, speech processing, personalization algorithms, and deep learning methodologies.

  • Strong programming and modeling skills using tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and Pandas.

  • Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed model training.

  • Ability to design rigorous experiments and define evaluation metrics aligned with business objectives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical content for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and curious by nature—ready to tackle complex analytical problems.

Preferred Skills

  • Solid foundation in mathematics and statistics.

  • Exposure to the financial services industry is a plus.

  • Experience with Reinforcement Learning, Search/Ranking systems, or Meta Learning.

  • Familiarity with A/B testing and data-informed product development.

  • Prior experience deploying machine learning models at scale in cloud-native environments.

  • Published research in top-tier conferences or journals in areas like ML, DL, or RL is a strong advantage.
