Sr. Workforce Effectiveness Data Analyst – Remote – United States
The Senior Strategic Data Analyst is tasked with promoting and enabling a data-driven culture within Healthfirst Operations. This role requires a strong understanding of the health insurance industry and the ability to identify opportunities to leverage technology and analytics to enhance efficiency within the department and across the organization. The Senior Data Analyst is a key contributor to departmental initiatives, using advanced analytics to deliver insights that inform critical decisions and drive successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize advanced analytical tools to generate insights for department leadership.
- Develop repeatable analytics and dashboards to monitor departmental health and performance.
- Create preventative and detective controls to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of business processes.
- Design and refine data models and dashboards, identifying and addressing downstream impacts of changes to current analyses and algorithms.
- Develop and execute complex statistical algorithms and predictive models using large datasets.
- Analyze data to make recommendations and support informed decision-making.
- Build repeatable ETL processes from source systems to analytics sandbox, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Conduct statistical analysis to assess model limitations.
- Define and improve metrics to evaluate department performance.
- Critically evaluate business operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and support decision-making with data.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for internal teams, defining methodologies and presenting insights with clarity and confidence.
- Analyze premium revenue, remittance status, and account receivables while supporting reporting needs for collections and sub-ledger aging.
- Document and review department processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Anticipate and solve high-risk, strategic business problems by investigating issues, detecting patterns, and recommending solutions.
- Communicate insights from big data analysis effectively to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to solve problems, develop new algorithms, and identify trends and opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, including Access, Excel, and Word.
- Expertise in data analysis and query tools such as SQL.
- Proficiency in tools/platforms such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Amazon Redshift.
- Knowledge of applied statistics, including distributions, statistical testing, and regression.
- Experience in running queries from data warehouses.
- Expertise in innovative and advanced audit techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Informatics, or related fields.
- Experience with Python and R programming.
- Familiarity with AWS analytical solutions (Redshift, Glue, SageMaker, etc.).
- Proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau.
- Knowledge of JavaScript and D3.js programming.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, MapReduce, AWS Kinesis).
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical, independent decisions.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with modern machine learning algorithms (clustering, classification, regression) and statistical methods.
- Understanding of the healthcare industry, including products, systems, and business strategies.
Compensation & Benefits
Hiring Range:
- Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $81,100 – $117,470
- All Other Approved Locations: $71,600 – $106,505
Final compensation is based on factors such as experience, education, certifications, and other considerations deemed relevant by Healthfirst.
